INVITATION TO BID- RUHIIRA MILLENNIUM VILLAGES PROJECT
 
  • The UNDP is the UN’s Global development agency with over 130 country offices. UNDP is an organization with a far reaching advocacy and capacity building impact. The Millennium development goals (MDG’s); a key driver of UNDP’s work are eight- time-bound and quantifiable goals, including the overreaching goal of cutting poverty in half by 2015.The Millennium Villages Project aims to apply a holistic approach to development based on                community participation and leadership so that rural communities can lift themselves out of poverty and meet the UN Millennium Development Goals (MDG’s).
    • In Uganda the Ruhiira Millennium Villages is located in Isingiro District, South western Uganda and covers the sub counties of Nyakitunda and Kabuyanda. The Ruhiira Millennium Villages Project hereby invites competent construction Companies to submit bids for construction of Selected Health centre and Community buildings as per below.
     
  • Sealed bids in separate envelopes and clearly marked on are invited from eligible bidders for the construction of the above works.

    1-40 beds ward, 1 patients’ shelter, 1 Mortuary, 2 Kitchen Blocks, 2 VIP Latrine Blocks, 1 Incinerator

    1-20 beds ward, 1 staff housing block, 1 shower block, 1 Kitchen Blocks, 1 VIP Latrine Blocks

    Kanywamaizi  Health centre III constructions
    1 staff housing block, 1 shower block, 1 Kitchen Blocks, 1 VIP Latrine Blocks

    Kabuyanda Community centre constructions
    1 Community centre Block, 1 VIP Latrine Block
     
    Bidders are free to bid for all the lots but the Evaluation and award shall be made per lot and the result from one lot shall in no way influence the decision on the next lot (when bidding for all please treat each as a bid of its own and seal separately clearly Marking bid for construction works for Ruhiira Millennium Villages Project Under Lot…….)
     
    Works include supply and installation of all specified Materials and works and other ancillary buildings. Contractors are advised to exclude the following supply of the following materials in their rate derivation as they have already been provided by the beneficiary communities.
    ·        All Hardcore required for the works
    ·        For each of the lots 10,000 clay bricks
    ·        For each of the lots 15 m3 crashed ½ inch aggregates
    ·        For each of the lots 10m3 of construction sand
     
  • An optional (though recommended) site visit will be conducted on the 21 of December 2009.
  • Bidders are expected to submit among others the following information;-
    • company profile( detailing only relevant experience over the past 3 years)
    • Legal status of firm
    • Income/VAT tax clearance certificate of current financial year
    • Evidence of experience in construction of similar works
    • Work plan ( with not more than two pages each of the works method and Quality assurance Plan)
    • Company contacts
  • Bidding will be conducted in accordance with the bidding procedures contained in the UNDP procurement procedures and are open to all bidders.
  • Interested eligible bidders may obtain the Bills of Quantities, Drawings and specifications from the UNDP  Country offices
  • All submission documents will be hand delivered. No liability will be accepted for loss and late delivery. Any communication arising between the publishing of this advert and submission will be uploaded onto the website above). Each Lot’s bid must be accompanied by a bid security of UGX 1,000,000 (One million Uganda Shillings) for lots 1, 2, and 3 and UGX 500,000(six hundred thousand shillings only) for Lot 4.
  • Bids shall be valid for a period of 60 working days after bid opening and shall be delivered to :

  • Contractors’ Bids shall be opened on a suitable date by the UNDP-MVP team and the Client is under no obligation to award the contract to the lowest Bidder.
  • It shall remain upon the client to decide to invite or otherwise the contractors to witness bid opening.
  • A communication shall be made to all unsuccessful bidders within eight weeks from opening of submission of the bids.
