2007 marks the 30th anniversary of UNDP’s presence in Uganda, thereby also marking 30 years of UNDP supporting the country in its development efforts. The relationship began with the endorsement, by the Government of Uganda and UNDP, of the Standard Basic Assistance Agreement. This agreement, which was signed on 29 April 1977, defines ‘the basic conditions under which UNDP and its executing agencies shall provide assistance to the government in carrying out its projects, and under which the projects shall be undertaken’.

The Basic Agreement notes in particular that any assistance should be furnished and received in accordance with the relevant and applicable resolutions and decisions of the competent UNDP organs and subject to the availability of the necessary funds to the UNDP.
